(“Nam Tai” or the “Company”) (NYSE Symbol: NTE; CBOE Symbol: QNA; Frankfurt Stock Exchange Symbol: 884852) announced it was reported in newspapers of March 4, 2004 in Hong Kong that the Chief Financial Officer and the founder of the Company, Mr. Koo Ming Kown, has personally donated $12.8 million to The Hong Kong Baptist University. Pursuant to The Standard, a major English newspaper in Hong Kong, the money from Mr. Koo is the largest single donation ever given to a university in Hong Kong.
Mr. Koo founded the Company in 1975. He is actively involved in charitable matters. Over the years, he has personally made various donations to charities in Canada, U.S.A., The People’s Republic of China and the British Virgin Islands. In January 2004, Mr. Koo just made a donation of $1.0 million to a hospital in the British Virgin Islands.
